Big Sur Coast, Introduction & Index
When we travel the California coast we almost always drive and make stops in the Big Sur area. It has breath-taking beauty, with scenic and wildlife attractions. You follow Route 1; it is generally a two-lane well-engineered road but much slower than the more heavily used Route 101 (which is inland, behind a coastal range and has less-remarkable views).
