Presbyterian Owl Family
We saw this family of Great-Horned Owls
in Green Valley, AZ on May 7, 2007.
The adults had been nesting and raising
families for decades just outside the
Presbyterian church there. The baby
pictured, one of four in the brood, lived
just outside a large window and was
viewed easily from the "owlto" section
of the choir loft. Mama seemed to nap,
while perching above them under an
overhang of the roof. Papa stayed his
distance from the family, winking while
surveying the neighborhood from the
bell-tower.
