SPECIAL EDITION - EARTH-SHAKING NEWS

After 17 years "on the road and homeless,"  the Traveling Man and Gypsy Lady decided to buy a house in Southern California!  Maybe the fact we are both in our 80s has something to do with it, but there was a time we thought we would motorhome forever.

The deal was closed mid-December 2008 and we can move in when escrow closes in a month. 

It is a nice one-bedroom townhouse in Laguna Woods Village (originally known as Leisure World).  It is in Orange County, about ten miles from where Anne's sister, Carol, lives.

We are keeping the motorhome and expect to make occasional trips to the mountains, deserts and coastal attractions of California and nearby states. 

Here are several of the things we like about our choice:  We will be able to enjoy several nearby county and state parks but won't have to maintain a big property or cope with extremes of weather.  It is in a large co-op development that keeps our place and the community looking nice and provides very many opportunities.  There are six clubhouses, with swimming pools, exercise classes and countless activities. 

We will probably put a few pictures of the place in our website after we move in.

Our cellphone number will stay the same, at least for several months.  We expect eventually to get an additional number with an area code for this location.

We've also been car-less for these past 17 years.  Now, if we decide to buy a Detroit-made car, we will have gone whole-hog to turn the US economy around.
