Roseate Spoonbill.

This odd-looking bird is in a family closely related to herons and egrets, and like them, roosts in trees and stands in shallow water to feed on aquatic life.  They swing their spoon-shaped bills from side to side hoping to bump into and spoon up some tasty morsel.  They are found along the Gulf from Florida to Texas and on both coasts of Mexico.  They stand 32 inches high and have a 59 inch wingspan.  The pink color is most prominent in the males at breeding season.
