The Icefields Parkway has, in our experience, the most beautiful length of mountain views we have seen.  It is an easily driven highway, nearly free of commercial distractions, and runs 140 miles from Lake Louise to Jasper. We have selected 19 pictures to illustrate views, but many others could have been chosen, including certain favorite spots we usually visit but did not do so in 2004.  We traveled south to north, and it could be done easily in four hours if one didn't stop for picture-taking, hikes, camping and other worthwhile activities.

We start with a view from high above Peyto Lake.  Then a view from the edge of Upper Waterfowl Lake.  This is one of two neighboring lakes and there is a camground in between.  The third picture is at Lower Waterfowl Lake and the fourth picture is the peak of Mount Chefren, named after one of the great Egyptian pyramids; it rises above the lake just mentioned.
